Paul Nickson, Leisure Club Manager
I have been with Marriott for 5 years starting at Preston as the Assistant Leisure Club Manager. In January 2011 i moved to Liverpool Marriott Hotel as the Leisure Club Manager. In October 2012 i made the journey up to Newcastle to Gosforth Park. My aim is to ensure the members receive the highest standard of services and facilities that they expect. If you have any questions or comments please do not hesitate to ask for me in the club.
Jean Davison, Leisure Membership Supervisor
I have worked in the leisure industry for 16 years starting as a receptionist in a ladies only club and progressing to manager. I qualified as a fitness/aerobics instructor in my early 40's for which I am very proud (if I can do it anyone can!) I have been employed with Marriott for nearly 10 years and find it very rewarding introducing new members to the benefits of the club and seeing them achieve their goals.
Julia Benns, Fitness Instructor
I started working at the Marriott in February 2013, after completing a work placement through Gateshead college. I have always been interested in sport from an early age. I am a qualified Level 2 BASI Ski instructor and Level 2 gym instructor, I am currently in the process of completing my Personal Trainer Level 3.
Helen Wood, Fitness Instructor/Personal Trainer
I am a Level 3 qualified Personal Trainer and a Group Fitness Instructor. I have been working for Marriott for 9 years. I keep myself in shape by teaching at least 10 classes per week, including my current favourite which is Boxercise. I am also very busy Personal Training clients in and outside of the Marriott.
Joanne Elliott, Fitness Instructor
I joined the Gosforth Park Leisure Club team in February 2009. I am a qualified Level 2 Fitness Instructor and im currently working torwards my Level 3 Personal Training. I would also like to get involved with teaching classes and hope to pursue this in the furture. I enjoy socialising, keeping fit and I also like to cycle and occasionally cycle to and from work.
Chris Luke, Fitness Instructor
I have worked at the Gosforth Park Marriott for 5 years, starting my career as a Level 2 Fitness Instructor and I am now qualified as a Level 3 Personal Trainer. I regularly work out in the gym and enjoy the occasional run. In my spare time I am in a local Rock Band, playing around the North East.
Ryan Wallis, Fitness Instructor
I have worked for Gosforth Park Marriot since August 2013 after completing a Level 3 Sport and Exercise Science course and Level 2 Fitness Instructing course at Tyne-Metropolitan College. My interests/hobbies include playing football, going to the gym and watching Newcastle United as I am a season ticket holder. I have a very strong interest in fitness and whilst at college, I studied a variety of subjects, but my main interests were anatomy and physiology and fitness training. The methods of training that I found most enjoyable were circuit training, interval training and weight training. In the near future I would like to do my Personal Training qualification and be able to teach a few classes such as circuit training and boxercise.
Matthew Turner, Fitness Instructor
I have worked at the Gosforth Park Marriott since May 2015 after completing my honours degree in Sports Nutrition at the University of Northumbria. Throughout my degree I have had the opportunity to work alongside athletes and leading industry experts in numerous fields including: Sports Nutrition; Physiology and Anatomy; Strength and Conditioning; Sports Medicine; and Rehabilitation. This experience has equipped me with the skills necessary to implement physiological rationale behind the programs I provide, allowing clients to better understand their training whilst facilitating a multidisciplinary approach to achieving their fitness goals. As well as training, I also offer nutritional consultations (1st consultation free of charge) and professional dietary analysis to members.
